Rapunzel's Release Receives Another Rave Review!

"Part of the reason I wanted to read this story was to see how Nichelle Gregory worked it compared to the original fairy tale. After reading her version I must say that she did a wonderful job. There is a richness of detail and a depth to character not in the original."
~Kathy K from ebookaddictsreviews

Simply Sexy Stories Welcomes Isabel Roman!

NG: Hello, Isabel Roman, welcome to Simply Sexy Stories!

IR: Thanks for having me here today! Looks around and loves what I see.

NG: Thanks! So, tell me, what genre(s) do you write and why?

IR: I write, hmm, you’d think by now I’d have a ready answer! I write historical erotic romance, but then there’s a historical story with no sex, I recently finished a contemporary romance which was more mainstream than erotic.

I love writing paranormal, especially paranormal historicals. There’s something about setting a paranormal in an historical setting. Different.

NG: What do you enjoy the most about being a writer?

IR: Playing in the imagination sandbox! That and living in my head with such fun characters. Or evil characters, they’re fun too.

NG: Gotta love the bad guys! What do you find the most challenging about being a writer?

IR: Plotting. I can come up with story concepts left and right but then have to make the plot as good as the concept. That and naming—characters and titles.

NG: How long does it take you to complete a book?

IR: Trick question: it depends on how well plotted it is. That and how long it is. 8-12 weeks if it’s really well plotted about between 50-65,000 words. 85-100,000 words is closer to 4-4 ½ months. It’d go a lot faster if I didn’t have to go to my day job.

NG: That's impressive! Do you use beta-readers or critique partners?

IR: Sometimes for the hook. Just to see if it flows and grabs you. And how much I want a second opinion on something, but not for my short stories. I don’t have a regular critique partner.

NG: Which is harder to come up with...the blurb or the title?

IR: Title! Without a doubt. Blurbs are comparatively easy, cause hey, I wrote the story and can then condense it into 2 paragraphs. (A synopsis is harder, more detail there.) But a title?
Forget it.

NG: What compels you to buy a book? Cover, blurb, or author recognition?

IR: All of the above actually. I do go for my favorite authors first, but then a cover might catch my attention and blurb. But I have been burned by blurbs before, so I try to read the first few pages if possible. Just in case. And as a result, I try to keep my blurbs as accurate as possible.

NG: Favorite romantic movie?

IR: An Affair to Remember—the one with Cary Grant and Debra Kerr

NG: Ooooo, I love that movie too! Favorite love song?

IR: That’s a difficult one…Santana’s Smooth. Why? Cause of that line: I could change my life to better suit your mood.

NG: Delicious! Favorite dessert?

IR: Chocolate. Definitely. But in a dessert form as opposed to a bar form? The Chocolate Chiffon cake my grandmother makes: 3 layers of dark milk chocolate smothered in homemade chocolate icing. Heaven.

NG: Omigoodness, I'm in heaven imagining that decadent dessert! Do you have any other hobbies that you enjoy?

IR: Traveling, baking…by hobbies do you mean like a hobbyist? Or just extracurricular activities. In that case, reading, movies, traveling, family.

NG: Hobbies or extracurricular activities. All of yours sound relaxing and fun! Ok, let's talk about your latest release Dark Desires of the Druids:
Sex & Subterfuge.
What's this sexy story all about?

IR: A group of magickers (Druids) in Philadelphia—they’re a secret society hiding in plain sight. One amongst them wants to gain ultimate power, but the true master, Morgana, tries to stop him. The wild card in Lucien, Earl Granville, traveling from England in search of these magickers. But he gets sidetracked by the torrid affair he and Morgana have—so torrid in fact, you may want to hide your children and dining room furniture.

NG: Mmmm...sounds exciting! What inspired you to pen this spicy tale?

IR: The contract. :) Sold one of the stories about these Druids, and outlined 3 more books. So we were contractually obliged to finish it!

Actually, it’s a love of history and paranormal, and the desire to meld the two. I wanted to do something different and chose Druids in the 1880s, and gave them a history and a life. Lucien is a favorite hero, strong but not the strongest. Morgana is magickally stronger than he, but he never backs down.

NG: I love the premise behind your story. What’s the one thing readers can always count on when they pick up a book written by Isabel Roman?

IR: Red herrings. Angst. A character someplace named after a relative—they’re getting demanding!

NG: lol. Isabel Roman, I'm so glad you stopped by!

IR: Thanks for having me today!
Blurb:
A master magicker, Morgana Blackthorne has a tenuous hold on her following. When a strange Englishman arrives on her doorstep with news of other druidic magickers, and magicker problems, she’s intrigued but suspicious. There hasn’t been contact between the American and European druids in over a hundred years. Plus she has her own worries and doesn’t need the handsome earl adding to them.

Lucien, Earl of Granville, left England to seek out the Blackthorne Druid line and discover what they’ve been up to since contact was lost. Once he and Morgana meet, their mutual attraction distracts him from his purpose. Embroiled in her problems, he finds himself more concerned with her welfare than is practical for a passing affair.

When I invited you into my bed, it never occurred to me I wouldn’t want you to leave.

There are darker forces at work and the hunger of a weak magicker desperate for power. Will Lucien convince Morgana of his true feelings before things spiral out of control? Or will the surrounding subterfuge tear them apart?

Caution Hot Excerpts Below!
~Excerpt One~

“Lucien Harrington,” Jacobs, her butler, intoned, “the Earl of Granville.”

Smiling, Morgana swept out of the circle, stepping into the foyer, and greeted her guest. His timing was off, but as the magicker she knew him to be, not suspect.
“Welcome, Lord Granville,” she said, offering a slight curtsy.

He was tall, with dark blond hair, dark blue eyes, and a sharp nose over which he looked down at her. Her eyes traveled over his face, down his body, clothed in immaculately tailored Savile Row, back to his face. Arousal pooled hot in her belly.
She’d never wanted any man. Yet Morgana wanted Lord Granville. Her skin prickled at his nearness, her womb clenched with want.

Forcing her mind off his body, she studied his face. Briefly, want flashed in his eyes and she smiled a truly wicked smile at him. It was gone as fast as it’d shone and she returned to studying him. There was grief hidden deep in his eyes, along with suspicion and weariness. Tilting her head, she wondered what caused those emotions. Suspicion she could easily understand. It’d been more than a hundred and thirty years since their families had any contact. Though, since he’d sought her out, she should be more suspicious of him.

“Mistress Blackthorne,” he bowed over her offered hand. Flicking a glance behind her, he said, “I hope I’m not interrupting.”

“Not at all,” Morgana smiled. She could all but feel David’s displeasure. Suppressing a giddy smile, she took Lord Granville’s arm and led him into the parlor. “We’re about to begin the New Moon Ritual. Do you still practice it in England?”

Looking up at him with guileless eyes, she waited for his confusion, gratified when it sparked briefly in those bottomless depths. Damn them all. She could be as gracious as she liked, but in the end, resentment bubbled to the surface. They’d abandoned her ancestors to indentured servitude and hadn’t bothered to contact any of them since.

“I’m afraid we lost that custom when we lost the valuable Blackthorne line.”
Morgana raised her eyebrow at him as they entered the parlor. Wasn’t he the diplomat?

“Would you care to join the ritual, Lord Granville?”

He bowed again and smiled. “It would be my pleasure, Mrs. Blackthorne.”

~Excerpt Two~
(After Lucien and Morgana return from intimidating a French smuggler into handing over a case of dangerous and illegal venom used in making potions.)

“I need to speak with him,” Morgana said. “I’ll send him along later.”

James’s eyes narrowed at her, but he nodded. Even in company he barely tolerated, he’d never question her. Especially in company he barely tolerated.

Lucien watched her with a quizzical expression and she smiled. The parlor door closed silently behind her. They wouldn’t be interrupted by servants. Now was the time.

“Since we met,” she said confidently and closed the distance between them. “I’ve been attracted to you.”

He nodded, caressing her cheek with the knuckles of one hand. “I’ve felt the same way.”

“Good,” she whispered, voice husky, lips a breath from his. “Come upstairs with me.”

Lucien tried to recall a time when a woman was bold enough to seduce him, and could not. Morgana was different from his previous lovers and far, far more daring. His entire being was focused on her, on her body. Thoughts of their night, the venom, and André’s mysterious buyer swept from his head the instant she kissed him.

Now, both half naked, his lips trailed down her thigh, over her knee, to her delicate ankle. Up the other leg, over the delicate swell of her hip. He looked at her in the dimness of the room. And in the shifting shadows, her eyes were a deep recess that drew Lucien in and captured him. In those interminable minutes before their lips touched again, he felt himself drowning in her; her taste, her scent, her very essence.

Their lips touched softly, gently at first. Flesh on flesh. Then she opened her mouth under his and drew him in. He watched her eyes flutter shut as she gave herself over and he pulled her closer, determined to have all of her this night.

Tiny, invisible tendrils wound around them, drawing them to each other, into each other and together they crossed that final barrier. He felt her hands move up his sides, over his shoulders to caress his neck, only to wind themselves around and pull him even closer, molding her body to his – perfectly.

Lucien thought he knew what it was to give into lust. To know that rush, and revel in it for as long as it lasted. Thought he’d experienced everything there was to experience when it came to matters of the flesh. As her hands tugged off his shirt, slowly roaming the bare flesh underneath, he discovered he was wrong.

Morgana sighed his name. “Lucien.”

If You Had Three Sexy Wishes...

Hooray! My erotic paranormal novella, As You Wish is now complete! I still need to do the synopsis and submit, but that's for another day. This book has been so much fun to write and I really hated to say good bye to these characters. This sexy story has it all: danger, sexual tension, one hot hero and a damsel not so much in distress as she is desire. The whole concept of discovering a magic genie capable of granting three wishes offers up many delicious scenarios when it comes to a plotting out a storyline.

Now, my heroine used her three wishes wisely, but let's pretend all is right with the world and you could only use your three wishes for something pertaining to your sex life. What would you wish for? Mmm...what would I wish for? Let's see:

1. A climax every single time I make love. Guys, you can pretty much expect the big O without fail, but that's not the case for us women. Depending on my mood, I can't achieve the big O no matter what. So, yes. That would be the first wish. It's such a fantastic wish I could be happy with just that one, but I still have two more left.

2. Telepathic lovemaking sessions. Imagine your lover knowing EXACTLY what you want, how you want it and every possible detail your subconscious could share to help improve your coupling. This person would not be privy to any other thought in your head...just the ones guaranteed to to take things to the ultimate level. Great lovers can be in tune with your mood, listen to your preferences or desires between the sheets, but imagine them knowing EVERYTHING your body needs to achieve the perfect orgasm. Things you may not even be able to verbalize, he/she would intrinsically know. Hmm...maybe this should have been my first wish. How could you NOT have a fantastic climax with a lover who knows all?

3. Fantasy Fu*k. Once a year, I would get to have one night with whomever I chose. Celebrity, guy next door, whomever I chose as long as they're game. No consequences, no feelings attached, just raw sex. The next day, I would go back to my life and my fantasy lover would forget all about the encounter.
I know...naughty right? Well, this is all hypothetical anyways.

Now, if I come across that genie in the bottle...

News, Review, Unseen Excerpt!

Whew! It's July! This year is flying by. June was a very busy month for me here on Simply Sexy Stories. I hope you enjoyed the in-depth interviews and HOT excerpts as much as I did. I encourage you to go back through my blog and catch up with any interview you may have missed.

On a personal note, I'm counting down the days for my upcoming release, Lovin' Leela coming Oct. 4th with Total E-Bound. I just got word the cover is under way and I can't wait to see it!

I've almost finished polishing my latest erotic paranormal novella for submission. What's it about you ask? Why, a very hot genie named Vander. I had way too much fun shaking things up for my heroine Karis in this sexy tale. This novella has taken me the longest to complete, but I think the end result is going to be amazing. Be on the look out for more details, maybe an unedited excerpt soon.

I've decided to take a little time off from my blog to finish up on several WIP's requiring my attention. I will be returning with more interviews and other tantalizing offerings on July 12th. In the interim, please enjoy an unseen excerpt from my latest erotic fairy tale novella, Rapunzel's Release.

* * * * * * * * * *

"Kiss me," Rapunzel said softly. Desire bloomed as Filipe's look of concern turned to one of passion. She stretched on her tiptoes and offered her lips to him, reveling in her newfound womanly charms as he kissed her tenderly, gently tasting her lips and mating with her tongue in slow, seductive strokes. Rapunzel delighted in his kisses as she ran her fingers through his damp hair, hungrily exploring every inch of his handsome face with her hands. She rubbed her palms over the rough texture of his beard as her cloth wrap slid to the stone floor unnoticed. She yelped when Filipe suddenly lifted her to straddle his waist as he cupped her bottom.

"You are so lovely," he breathed and twisted his head to capture one of Rapunzel's perky, rain-soaked nipples in his mouth.

Rapunzel moaned and arched her back, feeling her sensitive mound pressed against his hardened cock. She was not afraid. She longed for more of him as she locked her legs tightly behind his wet back, whimpering as he mercilessly teased and licked the engorged tips of her breasts. "I want to know." She moaned, with her eyes now closed.

"What do you want to know, Rapunzel?" Filipe gently squeezed the soft, round flesh of her ass as he moved them to the bed.

Feeling the scratchy blanket on her bed beneath her, Rapunzel opened her eyes and met Filipe's dark stare. "I want to know all there is to know about pleasure," she said, noticing, for the first time, the conflicting emotions of raw lust and tender concern in his eyes.

"...this is the sweet and sensual version that will also stick in my head for many years to come." ~Book Junkie
