Catching Up

It's Saturday and I'm thankful for the weekend and for feeling almost human after suffering from strep throat. The last several days pretty much flew by in a feverish sleep, so I'm looking forward to catching up on my writing this week and heaven help me a nice martini...you can't have one of those when you're afraid to swallow anything!

So what was I reading when I felt up to it? J.R. Ward's, Lover Awakened the third book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I've mentioned in my GoodReads reviews that I started Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series (which I adore also) before J.R. Ward's and I wondered if I'd enjoy it as much and I do. I've been burning through these books at a rapid pace. If you're a paranormal romance fan and you haven't heard of the series (where you been?), check it out! I've really come to love this series and these band of brothers and the women who come into their lives. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is a must read!

As February draws to a close, I'm gearing up for my third release entitled Hearts & Diamonds with Total E-Bound which will be available on March 7th! This is my second contemporary erotic romance novel and I can't wait to talk a little more about Nia and Quinn's super erotic story.

What am I working on now? Well, I'm finishing up an erotic paranormal novella that I've been putting the finishing touches on for several weeks. It really should be done, but this past week put me behind. I'm still trying to decide where to submit the manuscript, but I'm excited about this dark sexy tale. More details to come soon!

I've also started working on As You Desire, the second book in the Djinn Brotherhood series. This book will be centered around Rafi's story. Again, I'll share more details soon!

Seen any good movies lately? I recently saw The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It was pretty predictable, but I still enjoyed it. I like Sandra and Ryan...well, whenever I see that actor I imagine him in Blade Trinty from the waist up sporting a sick six or eight pack?? I don't know, but he's hot!

Simply Stories Welcomes Rachel Haimowitz!

NG: I'm thrilled to have Rachel Haimowitz guest blogging for Simply Sexy Stories on Valentine's Day! Welcome, Rachel, take it away!

RH: As today is the day of love, and my on-again-off-again SO and I are currently in the “off again” phase, I thought: What better way to spend today than with you, my fellow romance lovers? And what better topic to discuss than the underpinnings of all meaningful relationships: friendship.

As a writer, I’m fairly new to the world of romance. My first book released in August of 2010, and my second this January. I joined Goodreads and Twitter and some Yahoo loops, not knowing what to expect. I was hoping to meet some readers, talk some books. I had no idea how warm and open the M/M romance community would be, or how many wonderful friends I would make. Even fellow authors—especially fellow authors—who could easily have viewed me as competition, instead took me under their wing, gave me their time and expertise and a 3 AM shoulder to bitch lean on when writer’s block or bad reviews or particularly disappointing rejection letters popped up.

The internets are crawling these days with social media and marketing experts, every one of whom insists you must blog and Tweet and Facebook and broadcast yourself to stalkers god knows what else (would anyone like to be the Mayor of my Writing Desk?), all in the name of “building a brand” and closing a sale. That may have been the reason I ventured onto these networks in the first place, but it’s not the reason I stay.

(Brace yourself for a love-fest. Apologies for the inappropriate timing ;-D)

I stay because of writers like Aleksandr Voinov, who vetted a query letter and introduced me to his editor at a publishing house I was hoping to crack—when he barely knew me. And Kari Gregg, who pimps out Counterpoint like she’s getting a kickback. (Easy with the baseball bat, Kari; the check’s in the mail.) And Bryl Tyne, who offered to make me banners and graphics the day he met me in the Noble Romance author loop. I stay for bloggers like Nichelle Gregory, who was so eager to help me promo my new release in any way I could, and all the wonderful folks who stepped up and volunteered to host my blog tour for Anchored in January.

I stay because of artists like L.C. Chase (a talented romance writer in her own right), who generously donated her time and talent to make the gorgeous cover for Sublime: Collected Shorts, which I gave away free for a few months. I stay for readers like SheSwitches and Joellen, my Goodreads forum peeps who know me well enough to know that I don’t like “girl cooties in my smut,” who are responsible for at least 80% of the length of my toppling to-be-read pile, who generously share their thoughts and their lives with me and who so graciously allow me to share mine in return. I stay because of you, because of all of you, who make me feel like this writing thing isn’t so crazy after all. And hopefully, I can do the same in return for all of you.

Blurb:
Network news anchor Daniel Halstrom is at the top of his field, but being at the bottom of the social ladder—being a slave—makes that hard to enjoy. Especially when NewWorld Media, the company who's owned him since childhood, decides to lease him on evenings and weekends to boost their flagging profits.

Daniel's not stupid; he knows there's only one reason a man would pay so much for what little free time he has, and it's got nothing to do with his knowledge of current events. But he's never been made to serve like that before, and he fears he won't survive the experience with his sanity intact.

He finds himself in the home of Carl Whitman, a talk show host whose words fail him time and again when it comes to ordering Daniel to bed. Daniel knows what Carl wants, but it seems as if Carl isn't willing to take it, and Daniel's not willing to give it freely. His recalcitrance costs him dearly, but with patience and some hard-won understanding, love just might flourish where once there'd been only fear and pain. Can Carl become the anchor in Daniel's turbulent life, or will he end up the weight that sinks his slave for good?

(Content warning: This book contains potentially triggering subject matter, including a violent rape that is NOT committed by either hero. Please take heed.)

Anchored is available at Noble Romance Publishing and Amazon.com.

Sometimes Less Is More...

I came across this picture and was drawn to the simplicity of the drawing. The more I stared at it, the more I liked it. Isn't she a limber one? I love how the artist captured a very erotic moment without over doing anything. I created a story in my head within minutes leading up to this very scene. I found myself imagining what he'd say to her as she moved on his lap and her breathless responses.

Don't laugh...I'm a writer and inspiration comes from the darnedest things...the littlest things because sometimes less is more.

Simply Sexy Stories Welcomes Lucy Felthouse!

NG: Today, I’m welcoming Lucy Felthouse, author, editor, marketer and owner of Erotica For All on Simply Sexy Stories! Readers should know you've been a published erotica author since 2006. Did you at anytime during your journey to publication second guess writing erotica?

LF: No. I only started writing erotica on a dare and when I realized I was good at it, and enjoyed it I just never stopped writing it!

NG: What do you think is the biggest misconception about erotica authors and the readers who enjoy our work?

LF: That we're all sex-mad and promiscuous! Also, when people assume that erotic writers have done everything they write about. If we didn't have good imaginations, we wouldn't be very good writers!

NG: Indeed, Lucy, indeed! Are there any authors who've had a major impact on your writing?

LF: Only in terms of spurring me on to write in the first place. I don't try to emulate other authors' work, though I do have writers that I admire immensely. I just write in the style that comes naturally to me. I just look at how successful other writers in the genre are and it spurs me on to get there myself one day!

NG: What are you reading right now?

LF: I'm reading Rachel Kramer Bussel's latest anthology from Cleis Press, Gotta Have It.

NG: How has your writing process changed since you were first published in 2006?

LF: When I first started it was more of a hobby. But I've recently made changes in my life that mean I have more time to dedicate to writing. So I am taking it a great deal more seriously and as a result am producing more finished pieces all the time.

NG: What are you working on for the 2011?

LF: Ooh, lots of things. I recently went freelance. Part of my time will be taken up with my new business, Writer Marketing and I'll be writing for the rest. For the writing part, I have a few projects in the pipeline. I'll be doing another erotic anthology, answering calls for submissions and also working on longer pieces of my own. Wish me luck!

NG: I don't think you're gonna need it, but I wish you much luck, Lucy! Let's talk about your latest sizzling release, Uniform Behaviour. What's this collection of stories about?

LF: Uniform Behaviour is an erotic anthology about men and women in uniform. I've always been a fan of men in uniform so it made perfect sense for my first anthology to cover this subject. The book contains sixteen stories from fourteen authors and is scorching hot! A percentage of the proceeds goes to UK charity Help for Heroes so this is a project very close to my heart.

NG: That is so cool! What inspired you to pen this sexy tale?

LF: I wrote one of the stories in the book. I'm not sure where the idea came from, to be honest. The man inside the uniform in question is an actor I have quite the crush on, so he's not exactly a figment of my imagination. Though the things the heroine does with him in the story clearly are though!

NG: Give me three reasons readers will love Uniform Behaviour.

LF: It contains scorching hot erotic stories.
Uniforms are sexy, baby!
A percentage of the proceeds is going to a very worthwhile charity, which helps returning servicemen and women wounded in battle.

NG: Those are three fantastic reasons to love this erotic anthology! What's the biggest mistake you see in the stories you work on as an editor?

LF: Luckily for me, I haven't seen any big mistakes, just little ones that as humans, we all make. Just the odd typo, accidental name changes and the like. But if the story is strong enough, that wouldn't put me off contracting it – a few tweaks here and there and everything's fixed!

NG: What advice would you give to authors interested in submitting to you or elsewhere?

LF: Make sure you read the call for submissions thoroughly. Then read it again. There's nothing more frustrating than receiving stories which aren’t what you're looking for.

NG: Erotica For All is your baby, tell us about it.

LF: I started the site because I felt there was a gap in the market for a quality site where readers and writers of erotica could congregate and hook up. The site is growing rapidly and I get lots of positive feedback, which makes me very happy. I'm always on the lookout for author profiles, competitions and free reads to feature on the site, so authors please come on over and see what it's all about!

NG: Lucy, thank you so much for stopping by Simply Sexy Stories!

Do you get all weak-kneed at the sight of a grubby fireman or a hunky soldier? Perhaps immaculately-dressed waiting-on staff get you feeling frisky? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

Uniform Behaviour contains sixteen smutty stories about firemen, soldiers, sailors, police, security guards and even waiters, priests and cleaners!

Delve into this anthology and enjoy steamy stories from established erotica authors including Justine Elyot, Craig J Sorensen, Victoria Blisse, Shermaine Williams, Elizabeth Coldwell and Lucy Felthouse. Uniform Behaviour also proudly introduces some exciting debut authors. So remember, you saw them here first!

As well as being written and compiled for your titillation, this anthology is also designed to do good. A portion of the proceeds from Uniform Behaviour will be donated to UK charity Help for Heroes, which helps those wounded in current conflict.

The stories in this anthology have been hand-picked by a uniform aficionado, so you can rest assured that only the sexiest erotic fiction lies in this eBook.

Caution! Scorching Excerpt from Uniform Behaviour:

No, I shook the thoughts from my head, all too clich├ęd, all too seedy.
“Jesus!” I yelled as his free hand pinched down on my nipple, squeezing it firmly, exquisite pain coursing its way through my veins. I continued to clench around his fingers, another surge of arousal slipping from my core, heated juices spilling from my engorged and swollen cunt, coating his hands with my slick. I yelped in surprise as he forced his fingers into my mouth to taste the musky sweetness of my snatch.

“See how fucking good you taste?” he rasped against my ear, his words sending another surge of arousal whizzing around my body. All I could do was nod, words stuck in my throat as I succumbed to the feelings this fireman was invoking within me.

I have to admit, I did taste good, never having sampled the delights of pussy before now. Without warning there I was on bended knee, the image of myself drinking from another woman’s cup, lapping at her centre with long, luscious strokes whilst she writhed beneath my tongue.

I was brought back to the present by sharp pain in my breast as Bryan twisted a swollen teat, relishing in the pleasurable pain that spilled from my throat. He shifted closer to me in the darkness, pressing his thick erection against my pussy and grinding gently. With his cock still snugly tucked inside his trousers I had only the scratchy material of his uniform to contend with. My core ached for affection and I ground against him as hard as I could, rubbing myself against him like a wild feline in the throes of heat.

Uniform Behaviour is available now on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk!

Smoldering Glower or Sexy Smile?

A beautiful face whether male or female never goes unnoticed. What makes a face beautiful has been studied and discussed, but each feature plays a vital part. What draws you in first?

For me it's the eyes. Gorgeous eyes. After that it would be the lips which got me thinking. Which is sexier...a smoldering glower or a sexy smile?

Some guys can pull off both. Some guys look better to me sporting one over the other. Here are some examples:

Can anybody pull off a smoldering glower
like Wentworth Miller?

One word: Yum!

Nice photo, but I'm not getting the same feeling I get from the one above...are you?

I love Coby Bell on Burn Notice and he has a great smile...

Not quite a glower, but isn't he even hotter with that intense stare?

Jason Statham smiling...
Jason with a glower...oh, my!

There are more gorgeous examples I'd love to share, but I'm afraid these will have to do for now. So, are you into smoldering frowns or sexy smiles and on whom?

Coming up on Simply Sexy Stories: Author Lucy Felthouse, creator of Erotica For All on Thursday, Feb. 10th! Avery special Valentine's Day post by author Rachel Haimowitz!

Exciting News & Weekend Wishes!

It's Friday night, my house is finally quiet and I'm rejoicing! Despite the blizzard, freezing temps and round two or is it three of fighting the cold virus, this has been a good week!

I found out yesterday my Lust Bite submission for Total E-Bound was picked up! I was waiting on pins and needles with this one because it's a bit of a departure from my other published works. Darker, kinkier and totally delicious!

I've written free stories with BDSM elements (which I'm sure you've read by now), but this lusty nibble by far pushes the envelope of anything I've written before. I kept thinking as I wrote it: "I'm really going to share this story?" that and "you've got a very, VERY naughty imagination"...which can only mean I'm a naughty girl.

I'm not...no, really I'm not. I feel quite normal, but I know other women aren't imagining sexy genies taking them to bed or sexually crazed gingerbread men chasing them around the kitchen...and definitely not about being tied up and forced to orgasm, but hey that's just how I roll. My imagination keeps me sane. All of us have wild fantasies we'd rather no one else knew about, I just like to write them down on paper. Anyways, I promise more news on this Lust Bite's release date and to share an excerpt soon!

As You Wish releases in 17 days!! This evening I found a review in my email from Coffee Time Romance and As You Wish received 4 outta 5 cups! I'm thrilled! I've already begun working on the sequel in this Djinn Brotherhood series. You can check out the review here!

Finally, you can find me around the web this weekend! Check out my interview with Lucy Felthouse on Erotica For All and on Saturday, Feb. 6th, I'll be over on Nights of Passion with another in-depth interview!

Enjoy you weekend and read something naughty...it's good for you!

Simply Sexy Stories Welcomes Ansley Vaughan!

NG: I’m welcoming author Ansley Vaughan today on Simply Sexy Stories and Happy New Year! Are there any resolutions pertaining to your writing that you'd like to share?

AV: I’d like to write in a more disciplined manner. At the moment, if I get the bit between my teeth, I’ll sit up all night hammering away at the computer. Then I can go for days without being visited by inspiration. It would be good to write for a regular number of hours every day.

NG: What do you enjoy the most about being a writer?

AV: I love it when a character forms in my head, then walks onto the page and takes over. I like waking up in the middle of the night with a particularly knotty piece of plot mysteriously slotting into place. And it gives me enormous pleasure when someone genuinely enjoys my writing – that’s the whole point, after all!

NG: What genre(s) do you write and why?

AV: As Ansley Vaughan I write adventure stories with a strong erotic content, both heterosexual and gay. I write the sort of stories I like to read myself, with exciting, demanding plots and the kind of sex that makes you tingle.

NG: How would you describe your writing process?

AV: Chaotic! Ideas come to me at odd times, and I scribble words, sentences and snatches of conversation on any available piece of paper. When I get a new idea I let it percolate for a while, until something tells me it’s brewed. Then I usually sit down and write and write until it’s all there. Once I start, I write very fast.

NG: What's the one thing you wished you had known about the publishing world before you got into the biz?

AV: You have to be very determined. It’s no good having a thin skin. When you submit a novel and have it turned down, it really is a question of picking yourself up, dusting yourself down and starting all over again. Also, to accept the advice of editors you trust. However painful, they’re usually right!

NG: Any advice you’d like to share with aspiring authors?

AV: Listen to your own voice. It’s your story, and on the whole I’d say tell it the way you want. But once it’s written, get into the habit of reading and rereading with the eye of an editor or a proof-reader. You’re more likely to be successful if your manuscript is shorn of clumsy and ungrammatical phrasing.

NG: Great tips, Ansley! What are you working on for 2011?

AV: I’m aiming to finish an M/M novel set in England and Italy at the end of the 19th century. And I’m working on a contemporary comedy set in an English country home, and on a dramatic adventure that takes place in France.

NG: Let's talk about your sizzling new release, The Wedding of the Wolf. What's this story about?

AV: It’s about cool, elegant Eloise Lambert who’s planning a wedding at a run-down castle in Tuscany. She’s tired of being well-behaved and respectable and unhappy with her self-absorbed actor boyfriend. At the castle she’s thrown together with the Conte, a disreputable but devastatingly attractive musician who’s attempting to save the place and keep his disruptive young family under control. Eloise gets drawn into a world of police spies and Mafia activity and involved in an ancient and sexually charged ritual -- after which she never has to worry about being respectable again.

NG: Ooo la la! What inspired you to pen this sexy tale?

AV: It first came into my head when I went to the wedding of some friends in Italy – nothing like this one, I hasten to add. And it bubbled away. I love the hero of this book, because he’s flawed and badly behaved, but quite irresistible.

NG: What’s the one thing readers can always count on when they pick up a book written by you?

AV: There’s always a strong story. Lots of sex but firmly in context. Powerful emotional motivation. And a dawning, growing relationship. My protagonists go through a lot before they reach their happy ending!

NG: All the components of a great erotic romance! Ansley, thank you so much for stopping by Simply Sexy Stories!
Blurb:
When Eloise Lambert agrees to plan a society wedding in Italy for her old school friend, she’s quite unprepared for the complications. There’s the red tape, the bride’s interfering mother and the fact that the groom is rather less than willing. Add to that the problems she encounters with the owner of the castle where the wedding is taking place, the handsome but bad-tempered Count, her relationship with his difficult young family and the distractions of her actor boyfriend, a watchful and attractive British police agent and a lustful Mafia godfather.

Eloise’s emotions, and her sexual desires, are challenged and exercised as never before. Then she’s drawn into re-enacting an ancient ritual, The Wedding of the Wolf, which makes the choices she has to make even more difficult and winds up the sexual tension to almost unbearable levels.

Caution! Scorching Excerpt Below:
“Lola.” He said no more, just stared at her. Then he moved towards her with a feline grace that was almost menacing. “Would you like to know what I’m going to do to you?”

She made a sound that emerged as a whimper.

Standing right in front of her now he ran his fingers through her hair, letting it fall back onto her bare shoulder. “I like your hair like this. But we don’t really need the dress, do we?” He reached behind her, finding the zip with practiced ease and drawing it down. He pulled the garment over her head, his mouth forming a soundless whistle as he saw the underwear. “At last, I get to see the famous bra and panties. Very nice. Turn round for me.”

She revolved slowly on her high green heels. There was an audible intake of breath. “Altogether delightful. I rather missed the subtleties last time. Mmmm. And do I take it this outfit is still…virgin?”

“Yes.” The word came out as little more than a breath. He ran a finger between her legs, not saying anything, then held it up between them, the moisture on it clearly apparent.

“Well, I want to get the full benefit from this lovely lingerie before I take it off you. Then I’m going to masturbate you until you come. And watch you. Because I want to see that moment, that glorious instant, when your cool, well-mannered, good-girl expression gets chased away. The moment you realise you can’t hold out against your baser instincts any longer and your eyes suddenly glaze over with lust and the knowledge of dark and dirty things to come.”

She swayed on her heels, her eyes closed. She was so aroused she thought the throbbing of her vulva must be visible to him.

He curved his hands around her breasts, running his thumbs across the straining nipples. Scooping one globe out of its lacy nest he lowered his tongue to her overheated flesh. She shook as he drew the hard bud into his mouth and repeated the action with her other breast.

He began to kiss her throat, nuzzling her long neck as his hands worked expertly to unfasten the bra.
“You smell of honey,” he said, then stepped back, glancing at the scrap of green and purple lace in his hand. “I love this. You must have been thinking about me when you bought it.”

He gave her a wicked grin, but she was too far gone to care. He reached for the bows that held the little panties in position.

“I’ve dreamed about this,” he said.

“And so have I.”
