Simply Sexy Stories Welcomes Ray Sostre!

NG: I’m welcoming Ray Sostre on Simply Sexy Stories! Hi, Ray!

RS: Hey Hiyadoin’? So happy to be here!

NG: Let’s start with some Ray Sostre trivia questions! What’s your favorite time of day?

RS: While I may be a night person, I enjoy the evening more I can feel the energy more.

NG: Me too! What’s your favorite place to write?

RS: Always in a spare bedroom that has been converted into an office.

NG: What’s your favorite drink in the morning?

RS: I enjoy drinking herbal tea. Lately, I’ve been on a blueberry binge with agave nectar, and fresh lemon wedge in my tea.

NG: Sounds delish, I love a hot cup of tea! What are you reading right now?

RS: I’m actually reading two “Sex Tales by West County by Ken Charles and “Ours Until Morning.” by Jodi Olson.

NG: Do you have an e-reader? If so, tell me whether it was easy or difficult to adjust to reading digital books. Do you prefer paperbacks?

RS: As much as I wish to have one, I don’t have a hand held e-reader at this time. However on my smart phone I’m able to read stuff off of Nook or Kindle, along with PDF files, of course, but I love e-books far more than paperback because of the privacy at my job. I don’t have worry about offending someone on the genre I read at work. ;-)

NG: You’ve been captured and your captor tells you to choose one book to amuse yourself during your imprisonment...which book would you choose? J

RS: Irresistible Nemisis by Annalynne Russo. I love the story! Author Annalynne Russo puts Buffy The Vampire Slayer into shame and I would probably want another book snuck in to my virtual cell. LOL!

NG: What do you think is the biggest misconception about males writing in this genre?

RS: That we're considered perverts and we have no sense of morality when we write this genre. While I may have come from a socially liberal background, I knew men who come from a socially conservative background and they enjoy reading and writing the genre. On top, these men raise their kids very well; they’re kids are not traumatized nor harmed, but maybe embarrassed to tell their friends. Overall, the male authors I have interacted with are devoted husbands, fathers, partners, and great people with better moral ground than those who preach what they don’t practice.

NG: Well said and so true, Ray. You’re an author and you also the creative mind behind AfterDark Online. What is this site all about?

RS: Founded in 2010, AfterDark Online is a place where people can express their erotic talent through their stories and poems. We network with other sites and host contests every other month, particularly through a partnership with an online magazine blog “Sex Marks the G-Spot” & “Front Seat Romance” and through a publisher “No Boundaries Press”.

One contest we are hosting bi-monthly is “An Erotic Picture Worth A Thousand Words Contest.” The contest is all about finding a muse from a selected picture and the author will have to write a scene between 1-2k words, off the top of their head. The first place winner will receive a contract through No Boundaries Press.

NG: What prompted you to get AfterDark Online off the ground?

RS: Originally, in the summer of 2009, the site was intended to be an online adult boutique shop, selling toys, lubes, videos, and lingerie. However, the idea didn’t follow through because the person I wanted to go into business with had a kid and I had to place everything on hold until the summer of 2010.

At the time I lost my job to a company that bought out my workplace, I had a lot of free time on my hands. I spent much of my time reading stories from Lush Stories, Literotica, and other sites. It was then, I decided to give AfterDark Online a new purpose. In October 2010, the site was established, but getting it known was the hardest thing to do. It wasn’t easy, but I found one author who was willing to take a chance with me with a few of her stories. Then my biggest break of all was Twitter. AfterDark Online had a Facebook page, but my exposure came from Twitter, where I met Gina Kincade and Penny Peterssen of Naughty Nights Press, and everything else became history for me.

AfterDark Online was getting its recognition, but it didn’t become a familiar name until the summer of 2011 when I hosted a submission call for “Safe Sex Stories” to help raise AIDS Awareness Month. From August until December, I received 12 submission calls from wonderful people who help contributed their time and talent to AfterDark Online.

But as stories were coming in, I needed to find ways to keep up with the pace and give the site more spice. That was when I teamed up with an author, blog guru, and founder of a hot blog site “Sex Marks The G-Spot”, Dawne Prochilo, and also author, blogger, and founder of an upcoming Publishing Company, Kharisma Rhayne to host a contest that has taken off with a bang.

NG: Where would you like to see AfterDark Online in the next five years?

RS: Five years from now (2017), I want AfterDark Online to be an influential site in the industry of erotic romance, networking with publishers, a place to shop for e-books by both indie-publishers and estab-publishers, also hosting more than just one contest, while having articles from other blogs to network with the site. I want to create a place for the readers by the readers, a place for authors by authors, and a place for publishers by publishers.

I know I can’t do it alone, but I’m willing to partner up with people who share the same vision.

NG: Which do you prefer...writing your own stories or reading the ones submitted to AfterDark Online?

RS: That is an interesting question. I enjoy doing both. I love writing my own stories because I have so many ideas that run through my head that I need to put it on paper. If I don’t, I will kick myself in the ass for not doing it.

NG: Any new submission calls you’d like to share here?

RS: I would love to announce three actually. At this time, AfterDark Online is hosting a submission call for “An Erotic Picture Worth A Thousand Words Contest” The contest is really a bi-monthly competition where authors write a short story scene between 1-2k words, based on a picture selected by ADO and its partners in order to win a publishing contract with No Boundaries Press. We are currently running on until April 30th. Much of the advertising is on Twitter #AnEroticPic1kContest

Another contest is a sweet romance developed by Dawne Prochilo “Curvy and Proud Contest” It is right now in the making before we could announce it, but this contest is all about writing sweet romance stories about women curvaceous women. I have read stories where some women are described as petite or just off the cover a magazine, but there aren’t that many stories that describe a woman with a voluptuous figure. Besides, not every romantic woman is created equally.

The third submission call is a charitable event. In September 2012, I will host, once again, a submission call for safe-sex stories to help raise AIDS Awareness. While I write sex scene where characters don’t have to wear condoms, I also know that my characters in the stories are immune from sexually transmitted diseases. However, we aren’t in reality. The purpose of these calls is to encourage safe sex. Not matter how you live your life, always remember that life is too short to lose a reader, an author, or anybody. Protect yourself and know how to protect yourself.

NG: I love that, Ray! This is a great way to bring awareness to this issue. Do the people in your life know about your writing and that you’re the creative mind behind AfterDark Online? Are they supportive?

RS: My woman of more than 7 years knows what I do. While she hasn’t read any of my work, I do receive the support and advice from her. The people in my town think I’m doing a good thing; although, some think I’m a “whack-job” for coming out with something like that, because they think I write porn, but I don’t need to explain myself to those who have that opinion about me. I did it for the reason that I love what I do, and I don’t regret it.

NG: Bravo, Ray! What advice would you give to inspiring authors interested in penning successful erotic romances?

RS: Don’t think this is all you know, expand your mind and keep it open for more learning. You will always be hit with a curveball, and that will test your ability if you’re willing to learn something new.

Make sure you learn the industry. Don’t assume the erotic romance is all about sex. While we write sexual situations on paper, we are also adding life, reason, and purpose from the characters in our story; make sure you read other people’s work, in order to understand the industry more.

And lastly, don’t ever quit! Just because you got a rejection letter, or a bad rep from one person’s POV, doesn’t mean you should hang up your work. I started out the same way like anyone else. Plus, I had struggled after being away from writing for thirteen years. I made improvements, and I know you can too.

For two years, I learned a lot and I’m still learning the industry more.

NG: Great advice for all writers! Okay, let's talk about your writing.

RS: Coolness! :-D

NG: Describe your writing process...are you a careful plotter or laid back pantster?

RS: I’m a bit of both, but I like being a careful plotter on my stories more, because I can map it out on paper and follow through. Most of my stories are plotted, so I’m in good hands.

NG: How many hours a day do you try to commit to your manuscript?

RS: On a work week, I’m usually doing two hours, otherwise, I’m on there for about six hours tops; writing, editing, and mapping out characters and scenes.

NG: What’s your biggest distraction from focusing on your writing?

RS: Oh, where do I begin, lol? I do have to work, so I’m not on the computer like I used to. I even lost weight (30lbs), damn! I don’t regret spending time with my woman, so I have to balance that out. On top, I have to worry about mental road blocks when I get back to my writing. It sometimes happens when I’ve been away from it too long.

NG: What are you working on for 2012?

RS: I’m working on a few things. One, I will be coming out with a few short stories for AfterDark Online and I’m planning on revamping a story I did two years ago. The name of the story is called “Lonely Hearts.”

For publication, I’m working on a series called Suburbian Secrets, Part 2: Secret Rendezvous. The story is really a five to seven part series about a woman name Felicia Taylor, who decides on having an open-marriage, but her real intentions on having an open-marriage was just to have an affair with her husband’s friend, who agreed to participate in a threesome. This story series will be the first ever that I write menage, bisexual scenes, f/f scenes, and group sex. This is not in my norm, since I prefer to write cosmopolitan, contemporary erotic romance and comedy, but I had long wanted to get this story out of the way. It’s fun.

Another story I’m working on is called “Finding Possibilities” It’s an interracial, older woman/younger male romance story, about a woman name Faith Darby who just turned forty and celebrates her birthday out with her sister and friends, where she meets a guy name Darius Parker who is ten years younger than her. While the story has a few erotic scenes, it is really about the stereotypes and realities of dating an older woman.

NG: You are a busy, man! All of the projects sound great! Let's talk today about your latest release The Girl Upstairs. What’s this story about?

RS: It is sort of a hero-romance story about a man name Carlos Munoz who leaves New York City, and settles in Pennsylvania where he meets his sexy neighbor Bella from upstairs. The two hit off their relationship well, but Carlos has to deal with her over-protective brother and her abusive ex-boyfriend that just got out of prison.

NG: Nice! What inspired you to pen this story?

RS: Two things: One, while I’m from New York, I lived in Northeast Pennsylvania for a long time, before moving out to Nevada. The other thing, was a catchy tune I heard off a music video eight years ago “La Rumba” by The Rza; not the lyrics to the song, but the instrumental and beats that inspired me to write the story.

Originally, it was supposed to be written as an erotic short story about a man who moved from the suburbs to the big city, where he wanted to get to know his sexy neighbor that lived upstairs. I thought I should share something trivial about it.

NG: I love hearing what inspires other authors to write the stories they do! Give me three reasons readers will love The Girl Upstairs.

RS: 1. It is a hero-romance from a man’s perspective of how much he wanted to get to know his sexy neighbor from upstairs and there’s truly an intimate connection between Carlos and Bella.

2. There is comedy in the story. Plus, the characters are easy to identify with in a “blue-collar community”.

3. Yes, there are some very strong and vivid sex scenes, but the secondary characters help bring life between the two characters.

NG: What's the one thing readers can always count on when picking up one of your books?

RS: There is no fluff, no fillers, and I like to get my readers to feel what my characters go through in the story.

NG: I love it! Ray, thank you so much for coming on Simply Sexy Stories, best wishes for all your endeavors in 2012!

RS: Nichelle, I am so honored to be here on Simply Sexy Stories. I truly thank you for the opportunity, and I hope to be on here again! :-)

Blurb: Carlos Munoz left New York and his financial analyst position for a simpler life in Pennsylvania. The slower pace and relaxed lifestyle took some getting used to, but came with certain…benefits, his upstairs neighbor. The voluptuous woman intrigued him, but what about her ex—and her policeman brother? Was part of Carlos’ new life going to include a new love? He had a lot to learn about…The Girl Upstairs.

Caution! Super Sexy Excerpt Below:
When he opened the door he was surprised to see Bella standing there with her arms folded from the chill.

“Bella?”

“Carlos, look I’m sorry about what happened earlier. I know my brother can be a dick sometimes and—”

“Oh, don’t worry about it. Uh you want to come in?”

“Yeah, actually. It’s a little chilly standing here.”
“It’s supposed to go down in the thirties tonight.”

He let her in, closing the door behind her. He felt her wrap his arms around his body, feeling the cold from her arms, extracting the warmth from his body.

“Oh you feel so warm.”

He chuckled with the thoughts of her touch. You feel so soft. The feel of her body pressed against his made him feel hard again.
“My brother can be such a jerk sometime. He’s my big brother, but he plays big brother way too much whenever’s he wearing his badge.”

“Well, he’s just being protective of you.”
“Overly-protective. Sometimes he meddles in my life too much. I wish he would understand that I’m a big girl.”

“You’ll always be his baby sister.”

“I know. You know, Carlito...” She rolled her eyes quickly. “I’m—”

“It’s alright.”
“I can’t help it. I really love your name.” She looked up, “I really had a great time with you.”

“So did I... Annabella”

He gave a smile, feeling a sudden air of seduction before closing his eyes, letting his mouth find hers.

Bella spoke against his lips, “The way you sound out my name; I don’t mind.”

“I love your name.” He sucked on her bottom lip with tenderness.

He let his hands run over her body, while slipping his tongue inside her mouth. He felt her exhale hard against him, as he felt her hand on his neck, pulling him closer.

His excitement was bursting through his jeans. He pinned her against the door and ran his fingers under her dress. In return, he felt her fingers digging inside his jeans, past his boxer while grabbing on his ass. He felt her grip, she was hungry for him and she pushed him further to her body.

“Is he gone, really gone?”

“Uh-huh! He’s been long gone.” Suddenly she purred seductively, “Take off your pants I want you, Carlos.”

The way she expressed her desire for him made him anxious to be inside her. He stepped back and unbuttoned his jeans, while watching her raise her dress and slipping off her panties.

Once his pants dropped, he moved closer and kissed her hungrily. He felt her hand on his cock, his tip being caressed in her possession. The feeling of her touch was hypnotizing; he gazed into her inviting eyes one last time before taking her in another kiss.

While exchanging kisses, he raised her leg up and felt his cock being pushed inside her folds.

He heard her gasp into his ear, and nuzzled at her neck with sensual kisses. As he pumped her with furious strokes, he felt her hand run across his back. Then once he was able to work out a balance he lifted her up and pinned her against the wall. Every thrust he gave her had her gasping in enthusiasm.

“Harder Carlos... harder!” She gasped, digging her nails into his ass.

Carlos was panting from every thrust. Sweat was building inside his body, but the heat from her was more exciting. She may have been pinned to the door, but she was able to meet his thrust, until he wasn’t able to hold off any longer. His thrusting became aggressive. At the same time, her moans were growing louder. He watched her transfixed expression as he gave one last thrust, pinning himself against her body as he came inside her with hard shivers and panting, causing Bella to climax.

Once spent, they remained, still, on the door, catching their breaths. He looked into her eyes still glazed over from her sexual rapture.

They ravaged each other’s mouths, before he set her down.

“Oh, Carlito,” she pushed a wisp of hair from her face, “that was wonderful.”

“Why don’t you stay for the night?”

“I will, if you can help me with this dress.”

“I don’t have any spare clothes for you to sleep in.”

“Who said I need to sleep with clothes on?” She gave him her most wicked grin.
